Zaher Dannawi

Mr Zaher Dannawi is a consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics, specialising in spinal surgery. He completed his medical training at Barts and The London Hospital in 1999, followed by surgical training in London. After earning his FRCS (Tr & Orth) qualification, he completed a spinal fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, gaining expertise in complex spinal procedures.

Currently at Southend University Hospital, Mr Dannawi is instrumental in the development of the spinal unit. His practice covers lumbar, cervical, and thoracic conditions, including back pain, sciatica, deformities, and degenerative disorders. His skills include minimally invasive surgery, spinal fusions, disc replacement, and transplant surgery for spinal reconstruction.

An active academic, he has published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at international conferences, and authored a spinal chapter in an orthopaedic textbook. He also mentors students and junior doctors.
