He then completed the prestigious Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Auerbach’s belief in the importance of education and training is evident in his dedication to the residents at Hackensack University Medical Center, where he volunteers his time. Dr. Auerbach is also on staff at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ, and Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, NY.

Highly recruited out of training, Dr. Auerbach joined a prominent Park Ave practice in midtown Manhattan, where he honed much of his office-based surgical skill. Eventually making the decision to bring his family from New York City to Bergen County to practice in northern New Jersey, Dr. Auerbach began to focus on merging exceptional care with the patient experience to form what ultimately would become the basis for Riverside Oral Surgery.

Dr. Auerbach founded Riverside Oral Surgery in 2007 and, in so doing, began to realize his vision of providing the optimal patient experience through clinical excellence, compassionate care, and close attention to every detail. Growing older, he found himself drawn to the idea of becoming a dentist himself, and after working as a dental assistant at his mother’s practice, he entered Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Gelfand completed the Advanced general dentist training program at the North Shore-LIJ health system. Dr. Gelfand is a tech fan and the latest technology in dentistry, like lasers and other state-of-the-art instruments, appeal to him because he loves to discover ways to make procedures easier on patients.
