Action Radiotherapy believes that every cancer patient in the UK should have access to the best radiotherapy treatment available.

We aim to support radiotherapy research and development and support radiotherapy professionals by providing online tools to enhance collaboration.

Radiotherapy is effective and inexpensive compared with some cancer treatments and second only to surgery in its potential to cure cancer. Even small improvements in how radiotherapy is delivered could lead to large increases in the number of patients cured, and improve palliative treatment for others

Action Radiotherapy was launched in the House of Lords in July 2010. It grew out of the Academic Clinical Oncology and Radiobiology Research Network (ACORRN) which was launched initially by the National Cancer Research Institute in 2005 to harness the power of the radiation research base in the UK.

Action Radiotherapy receives no government or other funding and its activities are entirely dependent on charitable donations.

The London Neurosurgery Partnership is a unique concept in the provision of neurosurgical care. The team comprises eleven Consultant Neurosurgeons, all of whom are recognised superspecialists in their given area of expertise. As a result we can ensure that every patient seen by the group is matched with the Consultant Neurosurgeon best placed by virtue of their training and expertise to deliver the individualised and state of the art care each patient deserves.

Working as a team also ensures that our patients can access high quality neurosurgical care at all times from a consultant who will be familiar with their treatment plan at a location convenient to the patient. When appropriate, advice and treatment can be delivered by the composite team.

The London Neurosurgery Partnership has access to all of the latest neurosurgical technologies including the CyberKnife® and Gamma Knife® for radiosurgery which avoids the use of conventional open surgery in some cases and Minimally Invasive Techniques for both Cranial and Spinal neurosurgery when this is not possible. A key aspect of making use of such cutting edge technologies is the decision making process involved and this, in our opinion, is best done by a group of clinicians who are used to working together as a team to ensure that the latest technology and techniques are used appropriately based on the latest clinical guidelines.

Mr Christopher Anderson is a consultant urological surgeon with a specialist interest in renal and prostate cancer. He is the Clinical Lead of the Robotic Surgery Unit and the Lead Cancer Clinician at St George's Hospital, London.

Mr Anderson was one of the pioneers of Robotic Surgery in the UK and holds membership at the British Association for Urological Surgeons. He completed his undergraduate work at Stellenbosch and his postgraduate training in Cape Town, South Africa, before taking up a substantive consultant post at St George’s Healthcare, London, in 1999. He undertook fellowships to Cleveland, the University of Miami and Detroit in the United States before travelling to the University of Leipzig in Germany where he learned laparoscopic radical prostatectomy due to the increasing popularity of minimally invasive surgical approaches to prostate cancer in recent years.

Mr Anderson was one of the first to adopt laparoscopic techniques in urology surgery in the UK. In 2004 he introduced laparoscopic renal cryotherapy, also the first operation of its kind in the UK. He continued to develop this technique and has the largest series with long term follow-up in the country.

He was an integral member of the team that pioneered robotic surgery in the UK, introducing the robotic surgery programme to St George’s Healthcare in July 2008, and has successfully developed the service as lead robotic surgeon.

His particular clinical interests include robotic prostatectomy, robotic partial nephrectomy, robotic pyeloplasty and laparoscopic nephrectomy. Mr Anderson is available for private consultations at The Princess Grace Hospital, London.
