Single tooth implants are the most technologically advanced way to restore missing teeth. They look and feel much like a natural tooth, and they can provide a lifetime of benefits, such as improved oral health, increased self-confidence, and enhanced quality of life. Single tooth implants can also help to prevent the shifting of teeth and the loss of bone mass. If you are considering a single implant, visit our implant dentists in Bergen County, Essex County, Morris County, and Middlesex County to learn more about your options.
What is a Single Tooth Implant?
A single tooth implant is a dental implant post supporting an abutment. The abutment protrudes above the gum and holds a dental implant crown. A single implant can restore a missing tooth anywhere in the mouth. The implant tooth will emerge from the surrounding gum tissue, just like a real tooth. It provides excellent functionality and restores appearance seamlessly.
Single tooth implants offer a number of advantages over other tooth replacement options, such as bridges and dentures. They are more durable, comfortable, and natural-looking. They also help to preserve jawbone health and prevent the shifting of adjacent teeth.
If you have lost small teeth, such as front teeth or lower incisors, or have inadequate bone density for a single tooth implant, a dental mini implant is a good option. Mini dental implants are a smaller, less invasive alternative to traditional dental implants.
If you are considering a single tooth implant, be sure to consult with a Riverside Oral Surgery qualified dentist or oral surgeon. If you are missing a tooth, a single-tooth implant may be the right solution. Contact your dentist or oral surgeon today to learn more.

Crooked teeth can cause problems that go beyond your appearance. When teeth are misaligned, they’re difficult to clean, which can lead to a greater chance of tooth decay or eventual tooth loss. If you’re reluctant to get traditional braces, reasons to consider Invisalign include:They’re virtually invisible and less likely to be noticed by others.
They’re removeable; you take them out to eat and brush. You do need to wear them for 20 to 22 hours a day.
There’s no need to avoid foods that you love, like apples, corn on the cob and other foods that braces forbid.
Invisalign pain is minimal compared to traditional braces. Aligners are comfortable and safe with no metal wires or sharp edges to irritate the inside of your mouth. Without braces, there’s no chance of food getting stuck in the device.
Traditional braces make brushing and flossing difficult. With Invisalign, you’re able to brush and floss your teeth normally. You aren’t likely to see an increase in cavities. Another benefit of Invisalign is that treatment time is shorter than traditional braces, usually lasting six to 18 months, depending on how much straightening your teeth need.
What Types of Dental Problems Does Invisalign Correct?
Invisalign is a great alternative to traditional braces for treating several types of misalignment problems with your teeth or your bite. It’s especially popular with adults who would rather not have traditional braces for cosmetic reasons. Dental problems that Invisalign may be able to correct, depending on the severity, include:Overbite
Underbite
Crossbite
Crowded teeth
Open bite
Gaps between teeth
The most important part of correcting bite or spacing problems is having the treatment plan prepared by a practitioner who has the expertise and experience to know what’s possible. This is what you’ll find when you trust Dr. Shalman with your alignment problems and other dental care.

What Is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is an artificial device surgically inserted into your jaw bone to replace a missing tooth. The implant post provides permanent support for a replacement tooth, and the crown looks and feels just like a natural tooth. The metal screw fuses to your bone to provide stable support for the replacement tooth. Depending on the condition of your jaw bone, your Downtown NYC dentist may recommend:
• Endosteal implants, which are titanium posts surgically implanted directly into your bone
• Subperiosteal implants, used when bone density is insufficient, involve the placement of a metal frame on your jaw bone to support the dental implant.
An implant is the best solution for a smile makeover if you have a missing tooth or teeth. Teeth implants also help digestion since they allow you to chew healthy raw foods and grains properly. Dr. Alex Shalman’s boutique family and cosmetic dentistry in Lower Manhattan specializes in dental implants. He gives tailored treatment and care based on your specific needs.

How Tooth Sealants Prevent Cavities in Children and Teens
Dental sealants are a great way to protect your growing child’s teeth from cavities. Sealants can prevent decay by as much as 80 percent, according to the American Dental Association (ADA.) A relatively recent advance in children’s dentistry, dental sealants for kids teeth help avoid much more costly dental restorations. It’s a win-win!
In our practice we use the latest dental sealants including Silver Diamine Fluoride Treatment (SDF). The Food and Drug Administration has designated silver diamine fluoride with Breakthrough Therapy Status.
What Are Sealants for Kids Teeth?
Dental sealants are protective plastic coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of primary (baby) and permanent (adult) molars to prevent tooth crevices from trapping food particles and bacteria. Sealants are recommended by the ADA and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD).
How Dental Sealants Prevent Decay?
Sealants act as a barrier to food, plaque and acid to protect the decay-prone areas of the teeth. The back teeth are the ones that are most likely to show signs of decay, so it is important to take this extra step to help protect them.
Sealants are applied when molars erupt beyond the gums, generally between five and 10 years of age. They and are not typically visible when a child laughs, talks, or smiles. While sealants can last for many years, they need to be maintained and evaluated for wear, and occasionally require touch-ups.

Dental Cleanings or Prophylaxis (“prophy”) is an essential component of preventive dentistry. The goal is to remove microbial plaque which can cause gingivitis (gum inflammation), and cavities.
Only our professional staff can determine how frequently this must be done. Some patients accumulate tartar faster than others.
Prophylaxis and Why It Will Help Your Kid
If you regularly visit a pediatric dentist then it’s likely you have your teeth professionally cleaned at least twice a year. This is to remove any hardened plaque or tartar from teeth which helps keep your teeth and gums in great shape.
Prophylaxis reduces the risk of gum disease and tooth decay and your kid needs regular professional dental cleanings for exactly the same reasons as you. During this appointment, it’s also possible for the hygienist to identify any areas your child might be missing whenever they brush or floss their teeth.
This will allow your local kid’s dentist to provide personalized oral hygiene instructions to help your child brush in the most effective way possible. If they do need any tuition on how to brush and floss then you can be sure it will be done in a way that is entertaining and fun.
