It has been scientifically proven that obesity dramatically increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. In the UK the number of obese adults is forecast to rise by 73% over the next 20 years, resulting in more than a million extra cases of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Experts are now saying that very small changes to our lifestyle and levels of activity could be the key to reducing this escalating disease.
Anne Dornhorst
Consultant Physician & Honorary Senior LecturerDr Anne Dornhorst is a Consultant Physician and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Endocrinology and Diabetes within the Imperial College Hospital with an interest in all aspects of adult diabetes. She is the Senior Diabetologist for Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals.
Dr Dornhorst received her Doctorate of Medicine from Oxford University and her clinical training from the John Hopkins University in Maryland, USA and at St Mary's Hospital London. She has published extensively in the field of Diabetes in Pregnancy and has been a member of the National Guideline Committees on the management of Diabetes in Pregnancy.
