New York Cardiac Diagnostic Center has built a reputation as a cardiac center of excellence in heart screening NYC for the assessment and diagnosis of patients with all forms of cardiac ailments. Top cardiology doctors in NYC offer an unrivaled service allied with state of the art equipment and heart doctors who are among the best in their fields.
What Is Cardiac Screening?
Cardiac screenings are various heart tests performed in order to discover different types of heart problems before the symptoms begin. The purpose of heart screening is to discover disease in their earliest stage when it’s still possible to treat or prevent them. Cardiovascular screening for heart disease may include tests to check your blood and other fluids, tests to discover inherited genetic markers associated with heart ailments, and imaging tests for the heart.
Today, the leading cause of death worldwide is cardiovascular disease with over 17 million deaths each year. The American Heart Association is predicting that this trend will continue to increase. In the US alone, at least one person dies every 40 seconds due to heart issues. Cardiac screening tests are designed to greatly decrease the death rate through early detection and prevention.
We use the most advanced diagnostic equipment available for cardiac screenings, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

The onset of a heart attack can be sudden and severe, but most begin as a gradually increasing pain in your chest. In the United States, a heart attack occurs about once every 40 seconds. Strenuous activities like sports, heavy labor, and other physical activities are often credited as an inciting cause of a heart attack. But the real causes are typically longstanding health issues that are varied and complex.

Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, is a common medical condition that affects your intestines and is diagnosed by the best-in-class NYC IBS doctor. IBS can cause abdominal pain, gas, bloating, cramping, diarrhea, and/or constipation. IBS symptoms can often be accompanied by other overlapping symptoms and be difficult to identify as the cause of your symptoms.
Our specialists investigate the cause of each patient’s IBS symptoms and find the best treatments that may be effective for them.
Bloating and the feeling of not having emptied the bowels, so needing to return to the toilet shortly after a bowel action are other symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome that gastroenterologist’s patients typically have. Many people who have IBS find that stress and certain foods aggravate their symptoms. If you have IBS, your large intestine may be more sensitive to stimulation, so it can spasm for no apparent reason, causing the uncomfortable symptoms mentioned above. In many cases, our gastroenterologists can treat (or at least comfortably control) with dietary, lifestyle changes, medications, and other modalities after establishing a diagnosis.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a digestive dysfunction affecting the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), a bundle of muscles between the stomach and the esophagus. Many people have heartburn or acid indigestion as a result of GERD. The tube that connects your mouth to your stomach is known as the esophagus. It has two sphincters, one at the top of your throat and one near your stomach.
Typically, the lower esophageal sphincter (or LES) maintains a strong grip, allowing the one-way flow of food into your stomach. However, if the LES weakens or doesn’t close properly, the digestive enzymes and acid in your stomach can escape back up into your esophagus.
Many people experience acid reflux symptoms after eating certain foods. In these instances, over-the-counter drugs may be effective in temporarily alleviating GERD symptoms such as a burning throat. Your doctor can help diagnose the condition and place you on the correct medication or prescribe lifestyle modifications as needed.
What Are the Symptoms of Acid Reflux?
gastro reflux symptoms
Heartburn and acid regurgitation are common acid reflux symptoms. Heartburn begins with a burning sensation in the chest. It can occasionally rise into your throat, producing a sour taste and a burning sensation. When you experience this symptom, it’s called acid regurgitation.
Other GERD symptoms include unexplained chest pain, shortness of breath, and radiating arm pain. These can be signs of a heart problem, and you should seek immediate medical attention and call 911. More worrisome symptoms include difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, blood in the stool, and others, which the specialist should immediately evaluate.
A thorough consultation and examination by a physician should be performed to establish an accurate diagnosis and develop an acid reflux treatment plan, as well as to rule out any other conditions. Chronic GERD symptoms can lead to Barrett’s esophagus, which is a precursor to esophageal cancer and can be diagnosed with an upper endoscopy.

A colonoscopy is an endoscopic examination of the large bowel performed by our colonoscopy screening doctors at Manhattan Gastroenterology. Our gastroenterologists guide a colonoscope (a long, thin, flexible tube containing a tiny video camera) from the anus to the end of the colon (cecum) and into the distal part of the small bowel (the terminal ileum). During your coloscopy, images from the camera are shown in real-time on a monitor, allowing the doctor to carefully examine the bowel. Biopsies and treatment can be given during this procedure, which usually takes about 30 minutes. We offer colonoscopy screening in multiple locations in New York City, including Midtown Manhattan and Upper East Side (UES).
What Is a Colonoscopy and Why Is It Performed?
Colonoscopy is the gold standard screening exam used to look for colorectal cancer (commonly referred to as colon cancer) that is recommended in patients without symptoms aged 45 or over (or earlier depending on risk factors such as family history, polyps, and other factors) that should be discussed with your local gastroenterologist. Coloscopy is used to look for polyps or other growths in the colon with the goal of prevention and early diagnosis of colon cancer.
Our physicians use a long, flexible tube called a colonoscope. This device, about as thick around as a finger, has a video camera on its tip and sends images to a video monitor, where the doctor can observe its trip from your rectum to the deepest part of your colon. Colonoscopy is also used to evaluate patients with a wide array of digestive symptoms, including rectal bleeding, chronic diarrhea, chronic constipation as well as many other symptoms as part of a complete evaluation for a proper diagnosis.
At colonoscopy clinic, Manhattan Gastroenterology, we utilize the latest in medical technology and high definition equipment, and imaging modalities in order to optimally visualize your bowel during coloscopy to make a diagnosis and establish an effective treatment plan. Our gold star-rated JCAHO colonoscopy center is equipped to make sure your procedure is comfortable and safe while you are having your colonoscopy performed.

Hemorrhoids are swollen and inflamed veins in the rectum and anus that can cause discomfort and bleeding. If you suspect hemorrhoidal disease, you should always be evaluated with a thorough consultation and examination by a physician for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan and to exclude a serious illness or condition such as colon or anal cancer. Hemorrhoidal disease is just one of the many causes for rectal bleeding and lesions around the anus that need evaluation. Rectal bleeding can be a symptom of any type of colorectal or anal cancer, a type of cancer that can be cured if detected early.
At Manhattan Gastroenterology, our doctors, top rated NYC gastroenterologists, and hemorrhoids specialists offer varying hemorrhoids treatment according to their severity. In mild cases, topical medications and an improved diet can help to alleviate symptoms. In other cases, IRC (Infrared Coagulation), hemorrhoid banding or rarely, surgery can be performed to physically remove the hemorrhoids.
A complete evaluation and early diagnosis by your doctor is very important. Rectal bleeding can be a symptom of any type of colorectal or anal cancer, a type of cancer that can be cured if detected early.
Piles are extremely common. By age 50, approximately half of the population has experienced signs of this health condition [1]. You can get piles inside your anal canal, where they’re called internal hemorrhoids or under the skin around your anus, where they’re called external hemorrhoids. If blood pools in an external hemorrhoid, it may form a clot, called a thrombus. This condition can result in severe pain and inflammation.
This health condition can be very painful. Visit our NYC hemorrhoids doctors for the best hemorrhoid treatment options including laser treatments. Emergency appointments are available at the NYC doctor’s office.

Sometimes, after undergoing surgery on your spine, you still experience lingering symptoms and continued pain. To find the cause of your discomfort, call the best spine surgeons in New Jersey at Premier Brain & Spine. You may be a candidate for revision spine surgery. With convenient locations in Bayonne, Edison, Hackensack, Paterson, Rutherford, Union, West Orange, and West Caldwell, as well as Goshen, NY, you receive a firm diagnosis and recommendations for the most effective treatment at this highly rated spine pain center.
WHAT IS REVISION SURGERY?
Most people have successful outcomes from back surgery, but sometimes pain persists after the expected recovery period should be over. This is called failed back surgery syndrome. If it happens to you, your doctor may recommend revision surgery, a type of back surgery that’s done to correct the original procedure.
When you’ve had back surgery, but experience disappointing results, you need to be evaluated by experts in the field of spinal care to see if you need revision surgery or if a different back condition has developed. You’ll find New Jersey’s top spine specialists at Premier Brain & Spine, the most advanced spine surgery and neurosurgery centers.
WHAT CAUSES FAILED SPINE SURGERY SYNDROME?
While operating on the spine is a complex process and surgical error sometimes causes spinal surgery to fail, other factors can sometimes cause failed spine surgery, including:
Recurrence of a herniated disc
Recurrence of spinal stenosis
Formation of scar tissue at the surgical site
Misdiagnosis
Failure of discs to grow together after a spinal fusion
Failure of implanted hardware, such as hardware that has pulled away from the bone
Infection
Complications due to medical conditions, such as osteoporosis or diabetes
While success rates in spinal fusion and other procedures are very high because of advances in surgical technology, you can reduce the risk of surgical complications by entrusting your back care to Premier Brain & Spine, where the doctors are among the most experienced in the greater NYC area.

When damage or disease causes the bones or soft tissue in your back to press against the nerves running through your spine, pain results. Sometimes, you can follow your NJ spine surgeon’s advice and treat the nerve compression with non-invasive treatments. But when those don’t work, call the top spine doctors in New Jersey to find out if decompression surgery is right for you. Premier Brain & Spine has convenient locations in Hackensack, Paterson, Edison, Union, Rutherford, Bayonne, West Orange, and West Caldwell, NJ and in Goshen, NY.
WHAT IS DECOMPRESSION SURGERY?
Spinal decompression surgery includes several procedures designed to relieve your back pain. Decompression surgery takes the pressure off of neural points in your spine. During the surgery, doctors at your NJ spine surgery center remove parts of your spine or fuse them together.
If you suffer from chronic back issues, finding a trustworthy spine pain center is the first step to finally getting relief from persistent discomfort. At our spine and pain center, doctors provide exceptional diagnosis and treatment, including decompression surgery and other back surgeries, placing them at the top of New Jersey orthopedics.
